DOUROGÁS AND SONORGÁS PROMOTE DISCUSSION ON THE RESTORATIVE ACTION OF RENEWABLE GASES
Dourogás SGPS, Sonorgás and IGU – International Gas Union are organizing the Lisbon Green Gas Summit – “Making a better world – From Sustainability to Restorative Action”, which will be held in Lisbon, on May 18, and will be attended by renowned national and international experts from the public and private sectors, key thinkers and decision-makers in the field of energy, and in particular renewable gases, environment and sustainability.
Reflecting on decarbonization and the production of new renewable gases, in a vision beyond sustainability is the starting point, challenging energy companies to evolve from the concept of sustainability, to the concept of restoration (restorative action), contributing to restore the impact that energy production and consumption can cause on the environment, promoting a truly circular economy and a better future. The role of gas in the circular economy and how waste is an energy resource with unparalleled value in the production of renewable gases that support, not only the decarbonization of the economy, mobility and business are the driving axes of this meeting.
Nuno Moreira, CEO Dourogás, states that “This is the time to reflect on the impact we want to produce on the planet and as energy companies in the gas sector, in particular renewable gases, we believe we have an important role to play not only in decarbonization, with alternative fuels to fossil fuels, but also in the restorative action of the systems, valuing the resources that, until recently, were understood as waste and that, today, are valuable resources. This conference has this purpose: to debate in a broad manner and with a global perspective, the solutions and commitments that companies, industry and authorities are taking on this path.
Among the names already confirmed for the conference are Duarte Cordeiro, Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, António Mendonça Mendes, Deputy Secretary of State of the Prime Minister, Alexandre Fernandes, President of ENSE – National Entity for the Energy Sector, Nelson Lage, President of ADENE – Agency for Energy, Pedro Verdelho, President of ERSE – Energy Services Regulatory Authority, and Hugo Patrício Oliveira, Vice-President of the Commission of Environment and Energy of the Portuguese Parliament.
