In December 2024, Dourogás, together with the testimony of some of its partners, shared their perspectives on Biomethane as an effective solution for reducing emissions in the transport sector on RTP’s “Hora de Agir”.
In this episode, Nuno Moreira – CEO of Dourogás S.A., highlights that Biomethane:
“…has the merit of deriving from waste, and therefore, any organic waste can be naturally transformed. That is the beauty of Biomethane – nature takes care of digestion just as we do. Essentially, Biomethane, and the energy that comes from it, is similar to human energy,” as Biomethane is obtained through a natural digestion process that, after purification, can serve as a perfect substitute for Natural Gas.
The transport sector currently accounts for around 25% of Greenhouse Gas emissions and is considered one of the most complex sectors to decarbonize. The adoption of Biomethane as a renewable alternative to Natural Gas for Vehicles (NGV) enables an immediate transition, aligning with the concept of the “Circular Economy” by transforming waste into clean energy.
A special thank you to all our partners for their testimony: Catarina Santos – Global Transports Manager at BA Glass Portugal; Hugo Luzia – Commercial Manager at Volvo Car Portugal; Joaquim Vale – Administrator at Santos E Vale; Isabel Gonçalves – Logistics Manager at Bosch Portugal; Luísa Barboza – Sustainable Projects Manager at Bosch Portugal; Marcelo Araújo – Fleet Management Director at TJA; Sara Vieira – Commercial Manager at IVECO Portugal; and Luís Ferreira – General Director at HAVI Portugal.
